How far would you go to remove microplastics from your body??

In my book Optimized I review how microplastics are increasingly accumulating in human bodies, and how they may be associated with increased risks of dementia, as well as heart attack, stroke, and death! Given these concerns it is essential to make concerted efforts to reduce microplastic and nanoplastic exposure. In my daily research of wellness and longevity concepts, I came across a company— Circulate — that offers therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE), essentially a process that is similar to removing toxins in the blood during dialysis, but in the technique microplastics are removed from the plasma. The company conducted a trial on human subjects and reports that they found an average 2.6-year reduction in biological age after six TPE sessions, using a large number of immune and metabolic biomarkers. The group also reported significant reductions in circulating microplastic levels using this method. This approach is certainly a very drastic way to acutely reduce microplastics in the human body! And while it does sound interesting, and potentially effective, the approach is very much rooted in the “treatment” mentality found so predominately in western medicine, in contrast to the “prevention” approach, which I much more strongly recommend. You can read about microplastic and nanoplastic prevention methods in my book, Chapter 8: Chemicals, Drugs and Toxins. Check it out!
